Biography and Philosophy
I grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I became interested in photography as a young child. I have always had a camera in hand, but it was the influence of both my grandfathers, who in their own right were photographers. I attended Beloit College, and majored in Studio art, and received a B.A in 1988. I moved to Boulder, Colorado, for ten years, and worked as a primary and pre-school teacher while simultaneously taking pictures. The combination of both working with children, and always having my Nikon in hand, inspired me to take pictures, of children. I love how unscripted they are in front of a camera, and I love the freshness and spontaneity of what they bring to an image. After establishing myself as a children’s photographer, friends began to ask me if I would take their wedding photos. It seemed like a natural progression. I love sharing in these joyous occasions, and have found that there are no two that are alike, which is why I work closely with the bride and groom to cater to their individual needs. Throughout my career I have worked both as a photojournalist, as well as shooting for magazine publications.

I have lived in Litchfield County, Connecticut for seven years. I now devote my time fully to doing what I love; working with people, and taking pictures. I shoot both color and black and white, and use both digital and film, as it allows me to have many options. I shoot free hand with natural light. I feel blessed that every day I get to meet and speak with new people and have developed long and established relationships with many of my clients. The most rewarding experience is always when I photograph a wedding, and then am able to photograph their children. I travel and work throughout New England and New York City, and am also available for destination weddings. My pictures speak for themselves.
